Overview

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of FP&A and Operational Finance to lead financial planning, analysis, and decision support across the organization. This high-impact role partners with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders on budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and performance improvement. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills, business insight, and a passion for using data to drive smarter decisions and scalable growth.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis

    • Lead all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, partnering with business leaders to develop aligned, data-driven financial goals.
    • Build and manage scenario models to evaluate business cases, investments, and operational initiatives under multiple conditions.
    • Conduct detailed variance analyses, explaining key drivers of financial performance across revenue, margins, and operating expenses.
    • Own and maintain consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow forecasts.

    Strategic Decision Support

    • Act as a key financial advisor to the executive team, supporting strategic initiatives including:
      • M&A analysis and integration planning
      • Direct Labor strategy and margin improvement
      • Cost optimization and operational efficiency
    • Deliver clear, actionable insights to support resource allocation, growth strategies, and performance management.

    KPI & Performance Measurement

    • Develop and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational dashboards that align with business drivers and strategic goals.
    • Partner with business unit leaders to track and analyze trends, productivity metrics, and other operational levers that influence financial outcomes.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of KPIs across business units and service lines.

    Executive & Board Communication

    • Create and deliver board-ready financial materials, including monthly financial packages, forecasts, and business performance reviews.
    • Translate complex financial information into concise, compelling narratives tailored to executives, board members, and private equity stakeholders.
    • Anticipate questions and proactively prepare supporting data and analysis to inform critical decisions.

    Leadership & Collaboration

    • Build strong relationships with leaders across finance, operations, and other departments.
    • Serve as a liaison between Finance and the private equity sponsor, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.

    Process Improvement & Systems

    • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, reporting efficiency, and data accuracy.
    • Lead initiatives to standardize reporting, streamline data flows, and improve forecasting accuracy.
    • Leverage tools such as Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct) to automate and scale FP&A capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial planning, analysis, or accounting roles.
  • Proven success in a private equity-backed environment, ideally in a small-to-mid-sized, fast-growing company.
  • Strong technical skills in financial modeling, Excel, and data analysis; experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage Intacct or similar platforms.
  • Industry background in Personal Care, Home Health, Hospice, or Professional Services/Staffing is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in M&A, due diligence, or financial consulting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and lead across functional areas.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to understand both the big picture and the underlying data.
  • Career ambition to grow into a CFO role within a private equity portfolio company.
